Picard is more of a serious captain than Kirk. I always thought Kirk was just out in space to discover more alien women to kiss. Picard was a bit more sophisticated. And with a nice accent.

Awesome accent and hairstyle. I'm not sure what the thread's about; who do you like better or who'd win in a fight. But either way Jean Luc Picard. He's a better actor, cooler guy, and he'd dominate the tale of the tape.

All true, but let's not forget that without Kirk and the original Star Trek, there would never have been Picard or NG. Also, eventhough the Original Star Trek looks hokey, in its day, it was far ahead of its time? Just a thought.

TNG is the bomb.

But DS9 and yes even Voyager have their moments.

TOS is entertaining, but way too cheesy to take seriously.

Voyager was pretty good, but,DS9 sucked. It was the absolute worst. The original Star Trek was better than that.

They are good captains for their centuries.
But Kirk vs. Picard is rather vague-
k vs. p in some sort of contest of strength? Picard is rather old, but Kirk sucks in hand-to-hand combat.
As a person? They aren't people!
In a ship? Picard has better technology, but in the same kind of ship? well that depends, depending on whether it is old or new.
I like Kirk better. But he had too many love affairs. Picard had mood swings- grumpy or insanely happy/pleasant.

Well Patrick Stewart is a Shakespearian trained actors actor. And Shatner is well... he was TJ Hooker... Theres simply no comparison. But that being said...

When i was a kid i LIVED for the original Star Trek it was just the coolest show despite the horrible acting, the silly story lines and the laughable special effects (in fact because of the special effects). Still there was no better feeling in the world then turning on the tube on a saturday afternoon (or at like midnight on a weeknight) and catching a Star Trek episode over a pizza or something. oooh I miss that. That and Twighlight Zone.

I watched TNG yesterday on DVD and I saw season 6 "Lessons". Picard is such an awesome character, very dynamic and a lot more interesting that Captain Kirk.

That's because you're a girl. You just don't appreciate the dedication that was required to put all that body paint on Seven of Nine. *mmmmm... there's a job...*

I can't remember either, didn't really watch Voyager or DS9 either way. I kinda like the new one though. The engineer is funny.

I know she was in Voyager, but since Tom mentioned her in regards to Deep Space Nine, I thought maybe she was in there, too... Only with body paint.

Anywho, just rented the original Star Trek movie, so I've now seen two with Kirk; one was I think quite a while after the original Star Trek. I like him, though I haven't seen any with Picard in them.
