Independents are far and away the largest swing vote and thus, by definition, decide every election.

The real reason why candidates play to their bases is not for votes, but for money, which is much more likely to come from that angle. They just don't dare say it out loud.
See, I can agree, here. Independents decide the general elections, thank God.

Primaries are craziness, only their mother loves them.

"At a minimum, a head of state should have a head." ~Vladimir Putin, on Hillary Clinton

Hey, I'm like most of you. I agree with Hillary that Putin "has no soul", but that was one heck of a great one-liner.

G.H.W. Bush to endorse McCain today

How many times can I say this? John McCain is the nominee. Period. First a big Romney endorsement (basically giving his delegates to Mac, and promising to campaign for him on the trail), and now Mr. George H .W. "80+-and-still-parachuting-out-of-airplanes" Bush endorsing him.

The pact has been sealed, and now it's been verified, checked, polished, re-sealed, and given a blue ribbon....not sure how many more check marks we can add to the checklist here....

Okay, please enlighten me. Does this mean that if McCain gets elected that Romney will be his VP? And how much power does the vice-president have?

Not really. Deals can be made, but they don't have to be. Often endorsers get other spots like cabinet positions, etc.

VPs have very little power in the US system, though in recent history some have been given a lot (i.e. Dick Cheney), but that is the president's choice.

Typically, a VP is chosen to capture a part of the electorate the candidate may be lacking in, and as someone with potential to run as president years down the line. From purely that perspective, Huckabee would be the logical choice, though not a likely one for McCain.

Great one liner!? No way, it totally fails. I didn't realise that Putin was a sexist neanderthal. Tip: not having a 'meat-n'-two-veg" doesn't disqualify you from a leadership position.

I didn't expect that from Putin. That's the kind of comment I'd expect from Silvio Berlusconi.

What's so sexist about it? It could have been said if Obama had been the one who said "Putin has no soul". Sorry, I don't see it...

Putin is scared of a future anti-Putin U.S. President. He'll be fighting against McCain ("when I look into his eyes, I see KGB") just as hard as against Hillary...

"Hillary Clinton has no head" doesn't make any sense unless you're referring to... er, this is a family board. Do I have to spell it out for you?

Otherwise, maybe it was some sort of translation error? Because, what the heck does that mean anyway?

Wait a sec...the quote read: "at minimum, a head of state should have a head". It's a joke about a "head" of state having to have a "head".

Yes, I was paraphrasing. But it sounds to me like he's saying head of states have to be men, know what I mean?

He meant it that way because she was criticising him and he's scared, not necessarily because he's sexist (even though he might be).

That's what I read.

Giuliani and the cell phone calls from his wife in the middle of a speech....

That schtick failed.

Now Obama....planted women in the audience who faint and he tosses water bottles? Another schtick?

I think you have a better approach (read: your mind isn't in the gutter). I'll put the comment down to non-sensical rambling.

Yes. That failed hard.

If it is, that one is working.

I love Obama. But I wouldn't faint if I got to meet him; I'd shake his hand.

Edit: People used to faint at New Kids on the Block concerts. Maybe this is the same kind of phenomenon. That scares me just a little, actually.

I. Didn't. Think. It. Was. Possible.

If you thought the Hillary/Jackson Five video was hideous, just wait till you watch this new Mike Huckabee video. Outdoes the Hillary in horribility factors on every level.

The ad was actually okay until he started calling the other guys wannabes. Now he'll just look like an idiot when McCain completely destroys him.
