Hey Jonathan, JD said that if you come to NJ, he'll let you drive his car.

I'm not too concerned about that. Once he comes here and sees the way we drive - he would quickly change his mind. I could just picture him going 70-75mph on RT 1 (speed limit 55) or the New Jersey Turnpike. Not to mention I don't think he would be used to a sports car.

Do they drive on the same side of the road as we do, in Sweden?

See - Jonathan is just smarter than you I don't think he would have a problem figuring it out.

Yes, they drive on the right. They used to drive on the left but switched over relatively recently (within the last 20 years or so). That must've been a scary time!

As far as I know, the only countries which drive on the left are Australia, NZ, Japan, UK and several Caribbean countries.

Oh, and PS - Congratulations, Jonathan! Now you can drive over to Copenhagen for all that duty-free!

I'm listening. Stockholm is rather far away, so I'm not particularly worried, yet. You'll give me a warning if you are planning to cross the border, won't you Jon? Congratulations!

Driving in UK is terrifying. I drove there once, in a British car, and I've never been more frightened in my entire life. I smashed the left-side mirror. Unfortunately the car was rented by our business partner. It still hurts my pride thinking about that incident.

Damn! That's as fast as you drive in NJ? Try 80 mph (~130 km/h) in a 55 mph (~90 km/h) zone! Keep off the highway, slow poke!

Well, if I had got my license abroad at the age of 16, I wouldn't have been able to drive legally until I was 18 anyway.

On the contrary! When I had my driving lessons I sometimes got to drive a sports car

Yup, I have no problems with miles per hour
50mph equals 80km/h, I remember from the movie 'Speed'

Oh yeah, the Danes recently lowered their taxes on alcohol. Think I'm driving over there and buy myself some Carlsberg beer and liquor

Well considering this isn't a highway - it has stop lights - I think you should be the one to keep off the road.

80 - 90 is normal for a highway.

Imagine what it's like for us: no matter where we go we are on the wrong side of the road! (Actually, I forgot Ireland where they also drive on the left) I find it's much easier if you hire a local car rather than take your own; the controls being the wrong way round helps you to remember.

I suppose it's a small price to pay considering English is the world's second language...

But yet another reason why Australia is my favourite place to go. They drive on the correct side of the road, they speak English, and they have drive-in off licences!! Now that's civilisation

Michigan drivers are horrible too (along with New York and New Jersey---so the carolinians say)
we drive about that fast, 'cept i gotta stay in the slowpoke lane.. my poor van would fall apart going 90mph... it shakes like a massage chair at 85..

heh..heh.. in germany i got to drive fast.. nice and fast..
hey, jon, you can come over and wreck, er.. drive my car... that way i can get a new one.

The only reason Carolinians say that is because they're one of the states who feel it's necessary to drive in the fast lane going 55 mph and won't get out of your way. It's illegal in NJ to drive in the fast lane (left hand lane) on a highway except for passing - but people from other states do it.

I have my list of worst driving states. I must say - while in Indiana - I have come to the conclusion that Wisconsin drivers are the worst while Oregon drivers don't know how to merge onto a highway and the south drives like they're going through a drive through.

I can deal with California, eastern Pennsylvania, NJ and southern NY - there are probably others, but those are the ones off the top of my head.

Oh - and on my way to my couins in North Carolina - I have determined that Virginians are also one of those "slow in the left lane" drivers. Virginian drivers annoyed me on my trip to my cousin's wedding.
