The golf thing wasn't a joke. The game was invented when Bandobras Took (right?) knocked off an Orc's head in some big battle or other, and it went flying right into a rabbit-hole, thus "winning the battle and inventing the game of golf at the same time."
Other than that, the above-mentioned sports were probably all popular.

Hobbits did well at carnival games such as dart throwing, knocking down bowling pins and most especially ring toss!

I did pick up on the wrestling, and I bet they also have other kinds of martial arts. Not the martial arts that we know of today, but something along the lines of hand to hand combat practiced in ancient Britain.
