I apologize if I inferred that of you directly Twilight. I was referring to the fact that many people come to Tolkien after reading more modern works of Fantasy, then find him 'boring' because there's not enough 'pop' in the writing - like lack of overt magic, for example. It was your "too dull" comment that got my metaphorical mind churning

I knew 'twas you Dylan! And I'll repeat what I said in another recent post. That is no way to keep 'secrets' from the MEVault from unexpectedly 'surfacing' through 'anonymous' sources....put an Elder in front! *bows*

I don't take things personally, so don't worry. I personally prefer Tolkien style magic because it is less blatent. The magic is found more in works of beauty. I just don't find as much beauty in the color grey. That is all. I think because the grey blends in too much with the white part of the eye, and it feels like lack of color.

Lee...Did you miss my 'you really need to know this' thread? you could have made a contribution.

I had a thought... could you could talk morthoron into coming over here? I'm losing my edge with all these easy targets . ]: )

Hmph. My eyes are nice. Actually no one can tell what color they are, but I say they're grey.

I was just making a generalization about the color. It is differant on a person by person basis, depending on a lot of things like exact shade of your eyes, the color of your hair, and a bunch of other variables.

I read that thread with a nostalgic smile Wayfarer. I'll extract my revenge in a more brutal manner when it's least expected. Your sig rules!

I actually just contacted the cranky old dark-elf as I haven't heard from him in a bloody age. I imagine he'll be banned before his first day here is had

I like the folks here a great deal, it just feels a little too-homey and accepting sometimes *lol* *thinks back to days of dwarves in fishnets, elves in tights and most of all, fourth age epics*

and now a follow-up question:

if it's dark, do yu think that their eyes would glow much like that of a cat's?

the reason why I ask is because of a story

I would indeed be hard pressed not to ban the bitter Black Eagle, if he came here. But I would try my best to fight for him. Really though I don't think he would come.

I doubt it. Something like that would have been mentioned then. It's hard to miss. A lot of stories would have been different then, for exemple the story of Turin and Beleg.

If you were to look into a pair of elven eyes you wouldnt first note the color of them, but the deep knowledge and memory of things that have past. But the varying colors resulted from some of the first eleves, Quendi, departing into the uttermost West and beholding the light of the Two Trees and others who stayed in Middle-Earth.

Colors varied? Do you mean rather the brightness?

Not that I remember. Certain Dark Elf? It does not ring a bell, and there are many Dark Elves.

You are refering to Eol, and I don't recall it saying that he had black eyes. He was a Dark Elf, meaning of the Teleri that did not make the Great Journey, and therefore did not see the light of the Two Trees.

Personally, i beleive that the elves' eye coloring would vary based on what part of Middle Earth they were from

ex- Brown eyes might be more common with, say, the Forest Elves of Mirkwood, as opposed to the eleve to Lothlorien.

I've always pictured elves with green, blue, violet, and deep, blue-grey eyes.
