does rather save time (the vernacular) if you meet someone you know in the street ...

Many of them celebrate "a Festivus for the Rest of us".

well, no... I just loved that it looked like that. AND there wasn't anything written on it. There are cards with various holiday/Christmas/whatever wishes... but I just want to write those down -myself-.

Ciao, littleadanel! I want to say Happy Christmas to you in Hungarian, but I cannot find a translator anywhere for your language. How do you say "Merry Christmas" in Hungarian?

How does one pronounce that? Can you "sound it out" for us, like spell it like it sounds with accents & everything, so I could say it out loud? I asked my boyfriend if he knew Hungarian but he says he only knows three words. He says Hungarian is one of the hardest languages in Europe to learn; he knows Russian and Romanian and Italian, but only 3 words of Hungarian even though Hungary is right next door to his home town.

wow, it's a hard one indeed... ack, my grammar knowledge, I mean knowledge of how to explain things, is a little hazy, but I'll try. We put the accent always on the first syllable... and the tricksy things in these words... 'cs' is one consonant, like ch in church; and ny is, well, like n+y; r is not like the English r, always trilled (correct expression? ) And a and á... hmm, the closest thing maybe is the a of arm - a is the short, á is its longer pair. Oh, and g is like in gate, not like in gin. (Tolkien actually named an -orc- Boldog... which means -happy- in my language. )

Darn, phonetic symbols were always my weak point. And my bro wants his computer back. I hope I could get a few things through. (Boldog karácsonyt )

Thanx 4 that, littleadanel! That "happy orc" Boldog gives me an idea for a tavern name in one of my RPGs, a tavern for my bad guys. The Happy Orc.

Merry Christmas everyone!!

There are only a very small percentage of Christians in Japan, and thus Christmas is pretty much just a fun, secular celebration. That`s how I`m celebrating it and so I`ll wish you all a merry Christmas without worrying what religion you are or are not, ok?
