I followed the link to the map - thanks for the link. Wonderful map.
I saw the note connecting it to Karen Wynn Fonstad. Looked through my 1981 version and could not find it. Googled her... she has passed! ( http://www.theonering.net/perl/newsview/8/1110669403 I remember seeing her book in ?Barnes and Noble? recently and found it had a newer date and one map was missing, my version page 4 and 5. Anyone have two different copies? Any tally of new or missing pages? Any more links to online maps? Any links to full texts of JRRT's works(for research and quoting purposes)? In case you really like maps to see where you are in the story, I have another atlas by Barbara Strachey, "Journeys of Frodo", 81, 84, 85, Unwin paperbacks, London. |

Fonstad did update the book. She changed many maps after the publication of "The History of Middle-Earth", volume 5: "The Shaping of Middle-Earth" and volmue 7: "The Treason of Isengard". In volume 5 were Tolkiens maps showing all Arda and in volume 7 his map to The Lord of the Rings.
In not changing some maps the book became somewhat blured. But overall the new edition is much better. Respectfully Findegil |
