How did we get on to discussing the apocalypse?!
My copy has no appendices because it is a 30-years-old one-volume thing which would probably fall apart if you added one more page (actually it's falling apart already, but that's from over-use!)
Thank you everyone for all the info, I think I will try and read them now. I can't believe I missed out finding out what happens to the characters afterwards! And the pronunciation would be useful as well.

I'm sorry; its my fault. Plurals of annoying words. Back to appedixs get them they're good. There is an edition of the story in seven books out at the mo. the app. take up one book.
