Here's the link to an article related to the Beijing Games. I find it quite amusing.

Coolness. I read the article Lin, it was kind of funny.

Amusing but a bit worrying too. I hope they don't over-do it, that would be very unfortunate. I like their attention to details, like teaching the cabdrivers English. But I wonder at the use of aiming at spending a specific and substantial amount of money instead of aiming at getting some things accomplished.

The Chinese have both time and money. I'm sure they can organise and arrange the games and at the same time pour money into other things, like cabdrivers.

Between September 17-28, Athens is hosting the Paralympics. Sweden has won a few medals already

Anyone watching it? It's pretty exciting stuff, especially wheelchair basketball and rugby. Very inspiring and impressive.

GB are second in the medals table

EXCUSE me?! The New Zealand Black Sox (mens team) were both the defending world champions from the last championships, and the current world champions from the 2004 world champions.

Black Sox on top of the world

(This was posted in the Temporary Venting thread but I wanted to address it here since it seemed more appropriate) Funny you should mention that since I just yesterday read an article in the papers about this. Apparently the Chinese government is trying to relocate every industrial site and firm in the neighbourhood of the olympic stadium. Those that can't move will have to shut down for two weeks prior to the start of the Games so that there will be enough time for the smog to blow away.
