Gollum What do you think?

How do you like this poem I wrote?(It took me three days to perfect it ) Enjoy!

I am Frodo, the Halfling, the Ringbearer,
wandering towards Mordor in the South.
My quest is to travel straight past the Terror,
and cast the One Ring into Mount Doom's mouth.

I am Samwise, the gardener, the friend,
never leaving Mr. Frodo anywhere we go.
I'll follow my master right to the bitter end.
I would go anywhere, do anything for Master Frodo.

We are Meriadoc and Peregrin, the Ent-friends,
Frodo's cousins and faithful companions for good
Thus far, we've been shunted to where fortune sends,
Now we are soldiers of Rohan and Gondor; we swore to do what we could.

I am Aragorn, by some called Strider, or Dunadain,
I am a Ranger, the Coming King of Gondor.
I pledged to help Frodo destroy Isildur's Bane,
But now he journeys into darkness without us; I can do no
more.

Legolas is my name, elf-prince from Mirkwood am I.
Ageless and immortal am I and ageless and immortal is my grief.
In all my long years and travels, not a glimpse of the ocean did I espy.
The Golden Lady warned me,''The gulls will sorely try you, Legolas Greenleaf.''

I am Gimli of the Dwarves, Gloin's son,
valiant defender of Galadriel's name
In the battle of Helm's Deep I bested Legolas by one,
slashing forty-three ork necks in the Golden Lady's name.

I am Boromir, son of Denethor, son of the Steward of Gondor.
I saw the Ring and wanted It for my country;
I tried to take It from Frodo; he ran, and I saw him no more.
The Company is scattered, but at least now I see.

Gandalf Greyhame is my name, also Stormcrow,
Mithrandir, and White Rider I have been called before.
Leader of the company, in Moria I fell to the depths below;
I returned clad in white, to lead a great host unto Mordor.

Hobbits and Men, Elves and Dwarves together,
facing many hardships in their way.
O Elbereth! Gilthoniel! Lead them through this storm they weather,
and may they live to see a happier day!

An original poem by The Ringbearer, March 2002

Oooooohhhhhh....My fingers......

It's great. You might want to change the Gimli one, though, he only killed forty-two.

I'm afraid I disagree with the others here. To be honest I don't think it's very good. There's an inconsistent effort to rhyme behind the whole thing, and I think the idea of it is too over done. I was one of the judges in the poetry contest, I've seen a lot like this: descriptions of each member of the Fellowship. I don't think there's anything remarkable about it. I may be wrong, but it seems to me that little thought went into the making of the words; as though it was all written down, well, carelessly. Not horrible, but not, in my opinion, good.

Hate to see what you'd say about my poems. About the best I can do is... well, I can't do anything poetic at all.

Yeah, I can write haiku that could almost pass as haiku, but nothing LotR related.
