What do you think would have happened if Isildur had not been waylaid by orcs on the gladden fields and had brought the ring to minas anor? (excluding the thought he would be devoured by evil and ever be invisible

the war of the ring would have been fought sooner, and Middle-earthwould have known generations of civil war.

He probably would have been corrupted by the evil of the ring, overthrown Sauron for good, and become the new Dark Lord.

I think that, since the One Ring wanted to go back to Sauron anyway, it would've corrupted one of his weaker generals to steal it or assassinate him for it and turn into a Ringwraith who would bring it back to Mordor or Mirkwood.

I agree w/ that.

Which is interesting, because you figure it would get to him much sooner that way and there would be no chance to do anything. what a lucky break -- those orcs actually helped bring about Sauron's downfall!
