Ask a Mod.

Speaking of weapons... has anyone else ever tried to come up with a middle-earth weapon? That's been a hobby of mine.

Didn't the nazgul dagger chill frodo when he was stabbed?

I don't know if an ice sword is very tolkien in any case. What i was talking about was... well, it's kind of hard to explain. Like saying... I wonder what glamdring looked like... and then trying to come up with a design. I've come up with some really neat ones... although most I've forgotten.

They were just too fantasy. I mean... those things in the LA? And Arwen with a katana? Please.

My main beef is it's inconsistent. Arwen's sword is japanese. the The Hobbit's weapons are celtic. Gandalf's sword is pretty english. And Aragorn has a cross between a bastard sword and a small Claymore.

Yet all those weapons were likely made by the same people. Either the Numenoreans or the Elves. You'd think there'd be a bit of similarity.
Good point. But they still looked cool, even if it didn't match up. Arwen's katana is cool, but it doesn't quite fit. I was just admiring it for being a nice weapon, not because I thought it fit. . .same goes for the rest of the weapons. . .Besides, I don't really know that much about weapons, despite how much I love them. . .but I've always wanted to study swords.
Yeah, Elven rope is great stuff!

One word: axe

Well, very good, but nothing does really stand a chance against an upset dwarf with a HUUUGE axe!
Gimlis axe is number one.
On second place comes his beard... a very awesome weapon! Just think what he should be able to do with it...

(Why are Narsil not reforged in Rivendell as it is in the books? That was the first thing that struck me as odd when I had seen the movie.)

Good question. . .
I think they plan on reforging it in one of the next movies, probably RotK, but I missed it in the first one!
