Well of course it is you curmudgeon. It’s the American way! We celebrate pretty much all holidays that way now. Christmas? Thanksgiving? Halloween? Yeah they’ve all become about partying and over indulging. I don’t have a problem with it. weve even adopted some other culture’s significant days and turned them into parties like St. Patrick’s Day and Cinco de Mayo. Any excuse for a national drink fest!

And Ill take any excuse for a day off myself thanks very much.

That being said I barely did much of anything this year. the usual friends that make a big deal out of New Years are saving it for Obama’s innaguration this year.

Curmudgeon is right, if it means I don't like clogged roads or closed stores .

You sound like Mary Poppins!

Congrats, that's great BTW, did I miss something while I was out of commission during foot surgery and subsequent infection? I see you referring to in-laws; did the BF change to husband?

I agree!

I like New Year's Day. I like a time where you can look back on the old year and pick out what you liked and try to keep doing it, and pick out what you didn't like and try to change it. I like the feeling of new beginnings. And it's loads of fun to watch hours of football and eat munchies with friends and family

Definitely. Plus, landing on a Thursday, it only cost me six days to get a whole 2 weeks off work.

BTW, sorry to hear about your foot! I hope you're back upright again. Gah, I bet it hurt though.
