Tom Bombadil *Entwives*

What do you think really happened to the Entwives? Were they lost in the war? Did they go across the sea? Did they just die out or move on? This is really buggin me so i want some other people's opinions.

I think some are still somewhere in the Shire. Perhaps in the Old Forest, where the trees aren't quite tree-ish anymore. Or maybe they all became more tree-ish as time went on and settled down forever. I don't really know for sure.

No one really knows but I would like to venture a rambling guess.
The original Forest stretched from the Old Forest all the way through Fangorn, Lorien, and Mirkwood so they may be in any of the forests left in the 3rd age. Treebeard asked Mery and Pippin if they've seen any in the Old Forest. I am not sure if I read correctly that they moved across the river which I think is Anduin. Quickbeam however told the 2 hobbits that everything was destroyed on that side which I think is the Dead Marshes. So my candidates are the Old Forest and the either Mirkwood or Lorien.

Tolkien doesn't know but I think as he does-dead or servants of mechanized agriculture. He said that in his letters.
