Gollum is the map of narnia connected to the map of middle earth?

is the map of middle earth and the map of narnia connected? I have experimented on this idea. I have placed them next to each other and found that they make a whole. What i want to know is the maps do join together to make a greater whole?

Welcome to Entmoot zavron. I can't really answer your question about the maps, but you may or may not know that C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien were great friends along with Charles Williams and a couple of other fellows that were writers. From what I understand, they all met weekly in a pub and exchanged their thoughts and ideas on writing. They were known as the Inklings. Therefore, it is not surprising to see some similarities between Lewis' and Tolkien's work. I believe out of the five Inkling, that Lewis and Tolkien were closests in friendship and were instrumental in each others works.

Nifty idea! Do you have any pictures of your attempts at conjoining the two? I'd like to see it!

Of course, my annoying thoughtful side finds it neccessary to point out that Lewis and Tolkien probably intended their worlds to be "parallel" worlds rather than parts of the same world. Middle-earth is a version of our own universe; Narnia is a different universe.

It's still fun to speculate, though.

True, Galadriel - fun to think of the Peter & Co. jumping into one of the pools and ending up in M.E., though!

"The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien" has many references to Lewis. My favorite is from letter 72, where Tolkien read "The Choices of Master Samwise" to Lewis, and Lewis was "actually affected to tears...".

But, I think I recall someting about Tolkien not approving of the Narnia series? Correct me if I'm wrong...

Yeah. He thought they were merely children's stories, plus they were allegories...he didn't approve of allegories at all.

But still...I wonder what Gandalf could have done to the White Witch...

Reepicheep rocks!!!

Ahem....

The land that Reepicheep went to, which I will call the Land at the End of the World for lack of a better title... wasn't that more or less heaven? And while Middle-earth might be heavenly to some of us, it's not exactly paradise.

However, you just gave me an idea. If the Land at the End of the World is to the East of Narnia proper, and Valinor is in the West of Arda, then the Land at the End of the World and Valinor could be the same place!

Technically, this can't be valid, because the Emperor Over Sea (is that what they called him? well, God, at any rate) is supposed to live in the former location, while Valinor is strictly Valar territory... but it's a nifty idea anyway.

Gandalf narnia map

Thanks to everyone who has contributed. I have more information. This is what i think.Middle earth is the west side and narnia east side and in between is the desolant and unexplored lands of RHUN. I have seen on a website a planatory map (thats a map of a planet ) and on one half of the planet there is a big piece of land with no seas within it, just one big mass. This land has been seperated into three sections. On the first section, the west side, there is middle earth, and the other sections remane nameless. My theory is that the middle section is RHUN and the third section, the east , is narnia. Ifyou have any more ideas please use the thread or contact me.

Narnia is a place made by C.S. Lewis. Middle-earth was made by J.R.R. Tolkien. THey didn't plan this together to connect their maps. It probably was an accident.

As far as I know, the Inklings was just a group of friends who read each other's work and discussed common interests, rather than planning work together, although I suppose they would have given each other advice.

Narnia and Arda are two separate planets. I have charted all of Arda. In the middle is Middle-Earth (hee-hee-hee), to the east is Romennor, to the south is Harad, to the southeast is Hyarmenor, to the west is (or at least was) to the west, beyond that is Tol Eressea (Eldamar), and beyond that is Aman (which was forbidden for all mortals to enter after the world was reshaped during the Akkalabeth (Fall of Numenor). Narnia is a completely different planet.
