I've never tasted figs. Is the taste comparable to something else?
The flower on the 1st page is honeysuckle by the way.

I like figs, because they host the fig wasps.

Is that a nasturtium? I know you can eat those. However, it looks more like a honeysuckle.
I'm very fond of nasturtiums. They're delicious in salads and have a spicy flavour. They're also very pretty in your garden: One of my favourite flowers is the Calypso orchid, or the fairy slipper, Calypso bulbosa: EDIT: Wow. I managed to cross-post with The Telcontorion, Mari and Nerdanel. I did not know you could eat honeysuckles.

I would say that dried figs remind me of dried prunes, with a more subdued aromatic quality (whatever that means); it has a pungent flavor.
I never had the fresh fruit before.

heh, I have a giant old fig tree in my back yard. Fresh figs are delicious, the leaves are great too for tenderizing meat.

I wonder why the flowernames are so different in Dutch. I had to look up "nasturtium" but I know what you are talking about now
We often have it in salads, especially the watercress. Here's an easy one: The leaves are edible if you boil them and the flower is used as a base for parfume and sometimes for candy. The entire plant can be used for medicinal purposes. There are many many different sorts of this particular plant in many different colours. This flower also has a religious meaning of 'humility'. NB: this is a pic of a hybrid. I didn't want to make it too easy which it would be if I posted a pic of the most common version
