I still enjoy them immensely. Tomorrow my wife and I will watch all three extended editions again, with one hour breaks in between to stretch. These movies are wonderful. The books are better, but as I have said here many, many times, at least they didn't totally alter them the way they pervert the works of Phillip K. Dick or Charles Dickens. In comparison to most other adaptations, these are surprisingly faithful.

Treebeard

When the films first came out, the way the Ents were depicted bothered me. They did not look at all like they were discribed in the books. In the books they were basically Giants averaging about 14 feet high, clad in bark over the torso and legs, and having grey-green hair. In the movies they were walking timber! Now a realize the walking tree effect is whole lot more interesting to look at on the film then just a giant would be.
