song i wrote

a song a wrote, yay!:
[sounds incredibly better sung with guitar]

Dance With Death

Since the day, that jealousy arrived,
Many souls, have battles til they've died.
When it came, it brought a call to war.
Never once, had any fought before,
An open door.

See them come, the Warriors of Light.
Watch them fall, conquered by Night.
Some men stayed, to take a final chance.
No one came, back from their dance,
A fighting trance.

Meadows turned to battlefields,
And rivers running red.
The sky alight with cannon fire,
And strangers falling dead.

Rolling plains and grassy fields,
Turned into a makeshift grave.
Dirty roads and broken dreams,
All that's left of those who're saved.

Soldiers went, to answer to the call.
Weapons drawn, the odds were tall.
Rebel souls, they fought because they must.
Deserters all, fell to the dust,
No binds of trust.

Can't you see what's come to us,
Because of what we've done?
Can't you see the red horizon,
Bloodstains on the setting sun?

Can't you hear the crys of solders,
Fighting for a broken cause?
Can't you hear the screaming people,
Following the broken laws?

Not bad...for a Yankee! It's pretty good. But doesn't this belong in the Lyrics 1 thread?

Not idiot cowboy...only Idiot.
If this thread doesn't close, I might as well post lyrics too (or is this some kind of Evil Empire exclusion thing? )

Catapult
Skiing down the slippery slope
Of shattered hopes.
Living in the fast lane,
Life won't be the same.
She went up top,
Couldn't ever stop
The hi's, then lies and goodbyes
Down the road...

[Chorus]:
WHY DID IT START?
HOW DID IT START?
WHEN WILL IT STOP?
A catapult that goes on and on.
She sees You,
She needs You-
Why won't she call?

A leads to B to C to D again;
Someday it's gonna stop,
But who knows when?
She sees her mistake,
But she's gonna fall.
She's going to the edge-
How far to lose it all?

[Chorus]

Bridge:
Sometimes we don't know how to stop.
Speeding reckless, can't see light above.
We've got to reach out, hold it...

[Chorus]

THE COMPOSER LIKES THE RHYMING!!!AAAHHH![in heaven]

hm, no evil empire exclusion, as for how, if you play guitar:

its sung mostly to the tune of bad company's song, bad company,

Am
since the day
C
that jealousy
E
arrived

and so on, for the end of the verse just go back to Am for the last bit, you can feel for it.

for the other verses in there,

G D
Meadows turned to battlefields,
C Am
and rivers running red.

and so forth, than there's some cool sounding stummin in between the verses i can't write out, but if i record it and get it on my comp for me other forum, i will most certainly put it here too. . .

Very cool! I'll have to try that. I promise I won't steal it.

I like both songs. Nice. I was wondering when someone was going to get a lyrics thread going.

Here'a a bit of a song I wrote. Well, I call it a song, but I don't have a tune for it.

Big, Big World ~ 3/05

i sit here in my easy chair
staring into static air
pretty people on tv
sing and smile and don’t see me
life looks nice beyond the screen
grass is green (in your dreams)
world is wide (on the other side)

-- (Chorus)
there’s a big, big world out there somewhere
somehow
someday
here’s hoping when i say
there’s a big, big world out there somewhere

i sit here with brochures and maps
thinking just maybe perhaps
someday i’ll win the lottery
there’s such a lotta world to see
i’ll be flyer-miles queen
grass is green (in your dreams)
world is wide (on the other side)
--
i sit here in my easy chair
hoping someday i’ll make it out there
i don’t want to question why
or count old regrets when i die
want to see what can be seen
grass is green (in your dreams)
world is wide (on the other side)
--
i sit here with my life to live
what will i do with what He gives?
it is not mine to question why
someone said just do and die
eternity is to be seen—and yeah
grass is green (in your dreams)
cheer up sleepy jean (on the other side)
--

It's New Years Day, just like the day before;
Same old skies of grey, same empty bottles on the floor.
Another year's gone by, and I was thinking once again,
How can I take this losing hand and somehow win?

Just give me One Good Year To get my feet back on the ground.
I've been chasing grace; Grace ain't so easily found
One bad hand can devil a man, chase him and carry him down.
I've got to get out of here, just give me One Good Year!

It sounds like something light you'd play with acoustic guitar...
All my songs are (unless otherwise noted) hard rock/punk, so heavy guitar...

Yeah, I'll post sometime soon here...I've got one working through my head right now, at least I've got most of the chorus nailed down.

Tragic Wound

Yes!!! Finished it! Goes like this...
[verse 1]
I heard the cries
Of a thousand broken hearts.
And saw the pain
And the torment go so far.
Crying for it
All to go
But it won't end.
And I know that
This one choice
Made it all begin.

[chorus]
Slowly dying piece by piece.
I get down
Onto my knees.
Saying sorry
For what our world did.
Trying to say
Goodbye to yesterday...

[verse 2]
I heard the screams
Of a nation's broken parts.
1973
And the war's still
Fought.
The "right"
We've got no right to claim.
Why do we play this game?
When we're...

Do the chorus again, then [bridge]
How
Can the terror go untouched?
When
The pain has been so much...

Then the chorus, and some ending stuff...
