Help! Tolkien Quote Source

Hello! I'm trying to find the source of this quote by Tolkien:

"Little by little, one travels far."

Does anybody know were it was said/written. Everywhere I look it is stated as being said by Tolkien but never says were.
-Thanks-

I have never heard about this quote.

I have checked the E-versions of the books I have (with Find option).
I can tell you it is not from
The Hobbit,
LOtR
Silmarillion
Unfinished Tales

So, if it is really Tolkien, it might be somewhere in HOME or in Letters.

Hmm thats interesting.
I have seen it on many 'quote' websites, I'm inclined to believe them-but I have never come across it anywere else...
Thanks for searching your E-Books though gordis, it's a big help knowing its not from those texts.

Always happy to help,
If it is Tolkien, the likeliest place would be LOTR drafts - three volumes in HOME.
