In the Great Battle, Earendil arrives WITH the eagles, who also fought the dragons and "turned the tide", so it would appear that the eagles killed dragons too.

I don't think the Orcs got totally wiped out. And the GreenPeace thing, I totally agree. It makes sense to me that all the Dragons mentioned were killed by humans. Not that I think the elves are not capable of it, the humans are just more capable.
