Nine riders and nine companions
I just realised something, there's nine ringwraiths, and nine in the fellowship of the ring. Coincidence or deliberate, what does everyone think, or does anyone know?
Did Tolkien do this on purpose, some kind of literary device maybe, or for some other reason? Or was it just accidental? Are there any other strange things with numbers in tolkiens books?

it was deliberate.
Elrond and gandalf and the others decided to send nine against the nine. there's no real significance to it.
