Great short sci-fi!
Let's start a list!...here are 2 of my favorites;
Microcosmic God...by Theodore Sturgon(sp?) Surface Tension...by James Blish The latter story (if you would wish a synopsis) is about...well, lets see... Earth sends out colonizing ships with chemicals(could be DNA...but it was before the time) to start human life on other planets. One of them crash-lands on a planet, which is mostly water. They land on an island about 1 square mile. They want to complete their mission...so they alter their DNA (or whatever they have) so it will be able to survive underwater, then they die. The story then picks up several centuries later, with the race created by the colonizers. They are microscopic humans, who live underwater(gills). The great thing about this story is these beings consider the top of their pond to be the sky, but the surface tension is the obstacle they must overcome to do what they consider to be space travel! There is alot more to this story, that I cannot reveal...but it is so imaginative! You can find it in collections, such as "The Science Fiction Hall of Fame". Hope I have not bored you all!
