Drizzt the Drow, what should I read first?
What should I read first? "The Dark Elf Trilogy" or the "Icewind Dale Trilogy"?
I have the "Crystal Shard" and wondered if it would do any harm to the overall story if I started reading it before "The Dark Elf trilogy". |

Well, Icewind was written before Dark Elf, so that's the order in which most of us read the books, I'd imagine. I say go with The Crystal Shard.

I read it slightly out of order, but would recommend you read the Dark Elf Trilogy first, if it is readily available. If not, feel free to read whatever one's you have.
They are, over all, rather enjoyable.

The only ones you have to worry about reading in order are the books that come after the two trilogies!
The 13th book is supposedly out, but I can't find it! Enjoy the series - it's a great one, especially if you like battle scenes!! |

Start with Icewind Dale, and then read Dark Elf. Go on from there if you so wish.

Thanks for all the advice.
I've read 'Homeland' and I'm half way through 'Exile'. All I can say is FANTASTIC! It's easlily as enjoyable as The Lord of the Rings, the battle scenes are masterfuly written and the scenes involving Zaknafein break my heart. |

I love Drizzt! I havn't read that series in years! Could you all remind me who the author is? And did that come out under "forgotten realms", or one of the other collections?

RE
The series was written by R. A . Salvatore.
The first book I began reading was 'The Crystal Shard'. I read half way through it and then I put it down. I then ordered 'The Dark Elf Trilogy' from Amazon. The DET really made me care about Drizzt. A few days ago I started reading the Crystal Shard again and now I can fully appreciate it because I know a lot more about the main character and what drives him. So if someone else is thinking about reading about Drizzt I'd personaly reccomend you start with The Dark Elf Trilogy. |
