Enya

I've been a fan of Enya for some time--a very lovely lyric mezzo, I think. I'm not sure exactly what her voice type is.

I love her music... but I really wish that she'd STOP SELLING CDS WITH THE EXACT SAME SONGS THAT WERE ON THE FIVE THAT CAME BEFORE IT! *clutches head*

Anyways... I love her voice, but I wish she'd do more 'singing' singing on her CDs .

lol. I agree. I do like Enya, however. I only have one CD- day without rain. Nice stuff. I think her voice has a very Elvish sound to it. I love her stuff in FotR.
I don't know why they classify her stuff as New Age. What, exactly, defines New Age anyway?

We have most of her CD's, I think. But I think it'd be nice she had a new one. That's been a while, IIRC.

She has an instrumental song named 'Lothlorien', I always thought they should have used that in the movie too.

Quite surprising to see an Enya thread with no mention of the group she started with.....Clannad

If you like the vocal Enya "sound" check them out, they have quite an impressive back catalogue.....and their music certainly didn't suffer any after enya left to persue a more pop-esque career than the celtic/folk influenced music of Clannad.

Heheh, I was planning on bringing Clannad into the discussion at some point. They're geared at more Celtic music IMO, more of their texts are in gaelic. Maire Brennan has a wonderful voice. Aren't she and Enya sisters?

But Clannad has this gorgeous instrumental piece called Fonn Mharta that I absolutely, totally love to bits.
