Leaving home?
I recently heard that you can leave home at 16 without your parents consent. Is it true? My friends mom really wants me to come live with them cause I hate my home. That would be great to get away! Please help me! Thanks in advance.

I heard it was only 18. Why do you hate your home? I'm sorry you do.

i think you have to be 18 unless you want to go to court and say that your parents are not capable of taking care of you anymore, or some crap like that...
im sorry you hate you home so much.

Well...I hope you have a good reason. I have thought about leaving home and going to stay with some good friends from my church. I have reasons. Maybe not the best reasons but....
I heard you can leave home at sixteen in Maine. I'm not sure if it's true...And you could always just get married...

I'm not sure about this, but I do know that emancipation from parents is a possibility (my mother did it at age sixteen). You have to prove that you there is a valid reason for wanting to be independent and that you have some sort of support. THe only problem is you can't recieve any help from your parents as a form of support to recieve the emancipation, and it makes life extremely hard.
Think long and hard about the reasons you want to do this, and if they're truly valid reasons to leave home (such as phsyical abuse or alcholic parents).
