Re: My review of MI2, should you choose to accept it
I think you hit it right on the head with your review. The movie was certainly good to look at and Woo's action scenes were righteous, but where the hell was the story? I also missed the team aspect of the first movie and the series. Hell, in this one Cruise is a one man army! His "team" is merely window dressing. I read an article in US TODAY about how John Woo had already filmed a couple of the big action pieces before the story was finished and Robert Towne(Chinatown) got stuck with the task of having to write a story AROUND the action scenes. That's a sure way to come up with a shallow movie IMHO. Still, I certainly think it's worth watching once, if for no other reason than to see Tom Cruise finally getting his chance to be a badass.

Hey, Iron Slacker, you are suppose to add their name to the welcome marquee! Hmmm, on the otherhand, can you get into board's controls being only a mod?
I too, welcome you BRENYA! |

Actually, anduin, I was considering it but moderators can only edit/delete posts and close/move threads. No stats, no controls or anything of that sort for us.

Re: My review of MI2, should you choose to accept it
I saw the movie last night. I agree, the plot was very much lacking. Why did they send Ambrose to do Hunt's job if he was untrustworthy? For an operation of that size, Ambrose would have to have planned for months, and yet he's all ready to steal the virus and crash a plane when he's given a minute's notice of his mission. He can't possibly have known that Hunt would be on vacation when the virus was finished. And if they could gain easy access to Hunt's whereabouts, why didn't they just call him immediately? Why did Hunt hesitate so long to destroy the last virus? He was just standing there, practically waiting for the villains to stop him from destroying the virus. *spoiler for those who haven't seen it* You're right, I think just about everyone in the theater knew that Nyah would inject herself with the virus. It was an incredibly obvious "plot twist." Also, I think the masks were overused.

Re: My review of MI2, should you choose to accept it
I agree, mostly. The mask thing drove me crazy (Where did all those things come from?) However, the least probable mask change (the last one, which actually almost surprised me) was definitely the coolest while still being the least possible. How's Mission : Improbable for this show's title? I did like it better than the first one, however... except for the awesome white-room break-in in the first one... and that Cruise looks horrible with long hair blech.
...And I definitely agree about the beating up thing. No way that Ambrose would still be able to talk, let alone get up, after the whupping Hunt gave him. :-(. |
