Well then, maybe he meant that he has golden steelwool hair (like Golilocks - it's a certain brand of potscourer in SA)

Maybe, Anglorfin is read an-glor-fin.
But I'm not sure about the an:
Normally it's a preposition, meaning "for" or "of", but it can also be a short form for an other word, like anu "a male" ,or something else.

As for my name Finarwë, it's shorted Fin-nar-wën, meaning "firehairgirl".
It's a name from a story, that me and some friends made a few years ago, during a long evening.
I found a note with the names, we came up with, last year in one of my Tolkien-books and a couple of days ago I started to write the hole story down, as far as I still can
remember it. I guess, I'm posting it in the fanfic-section, when I finished it.
I choose that name, as login-name, because of the character of that story and cause I colored my hair red, a few days before I singed in here.

So "Anglorfin" is made of Elvish prefixes, not words. As prefixes they may have different meanings. But, alas, I don't know Elvish, I'm just pointing that out so someone else can translate.

I have to correct myself:
an- also has the meaning of long-... in sindarin.
So the translation of Anglorfin "long golden hair" seems to be correct, IMHO.
