Umm, Gollum makes Sam go blind when his loincloth falls off.

I had a response to Gwaimir Windgem's comment about Gollum not being evil...you know, it depends on what you define as evil. Is the evil inherent in him, or is it the power to do evil that makes him evil? Because I think everyone in the film has at least one opportunity to do evil in some way. Galadriel has the opportunity to take the ring., so does Gandalf and Elrond and countless others. I don't think it's the opportunity to choose evil that defines a character as evil. It's the choices they make based on their character; Boromir chose to try to take the ring, but Aragorn did not. Thus, Boromir, though not an "evil" character (like an orc or the ringwraiths), did in fact do evil. So in one sense, everyone has the opportunity to do evil, everyone has a choice in every action, attitude, and word. hmmm...what do you think?

Yes, I agree with you. Smeagol also 'did' evil, but I do not think he was evil. I see more as a starved and ancient Hobbit, tortured and driven by the Ring to madness.
