Notes From A Small Island

Bill Bryson, one of my favourite travel authors got picked for the best depiction of England!

If you want an impartial view of England, read his book, it's hilarious!

His other works aren't too shabby either

I've put this on my list of books to read, thanks!

Love Bill Bryson. First came across his essays in Granta (I used to subscribe) years ago and have been a fan ever since. A Walk in the Woods had me laughing so hard I was in actual, physical pain.

Glad you're enjoying it

Here's Bill Brysons hompage, complete with excellent excerpts from some of his other books.

Hell, I never even saw this thread! Maybe I did but didn't click what was up........Anyway, I have recently started reading this book (along with The Third Twin by Ken Follet) and so far I dare not read more than about 10 pages per night 'cos I'm too scared I might p*ss myself laughing....

Today I discovered that I already have one of Bill Bryson's books on my shelves. Mother Tongue: English and How it Got That Way. Isn't that wierd when you've suddenly already got a book on your shelf that you hadn't realized was what it was?

Yeah - it's almost like finding money in a pocket of a coat you haven't worn in ages........well only if the book is any good I suppose.
