Mock Trial District Champs

I'm involved in the Mock Trial program. A team from my school goes to courts and performs defense or prosecution in a made up trial. Well, we won our district! I got perfect scores in our last trial! I do a cross examination and a direct examination on prosecution

DT, that is very cool. I was involved in that 2 years back, as a lawyer, and we got the local. Just missed on the next level, but hey. 3 people were off sick, so I'm surprised we did as well as that. I am over the age limit now, sadly, but I hear there is talk of entering for the BAR competition next year. Same kinda think but 4 an older age group.

Cool. Methinks we may go farther, but we shall see. Lenny's the man.

We got second which, with every reserve we had in place, I think was really good.

The burden is on the prosecution to prove the commission of the actus reus beyond reasonable doubt, but the burden is on the defence to disprove the mens rea.

Intent is a mental element, but is not the same as desire. Wilfully performing an act with knowledge of the consequences qualifies as intent, even if those consequences were not desired.
