Chapter Summaries

Does anyone know if there is a book or website with chapter summaries for the Hobbit, LotR, Silmarillion, etc.? I know there were a couple of sites that had them but were forced to take them down by the Tolkien folks. The Cliffnotes for Hobbit and LotR has book summaries but no chapter summaries.

I'm not sure what the motivation is to get an "abbreviated" version, but if it is so it can be geared toward young children, as in the other thread you started, I don't know, but I would suggest just reading it, and then "retelling" each chapter in your own words. The only other idea I have is to try to find the Rankin/ Bass version book and tape, but that leaves out a few episodes that are in the book. But with The Silmarillion, I am almost positive nothing like that exists.

If you're looking for commentary, I'm sure you can find some good suggestions by searching the Tolkien forums here. "Letters" might be a good one to start with.

Oh, and for commentary on The Silmarillion, there's a discussion of each chapter in progress in the Silmarillion forum here you might find interesting.
