Our discussion seems to be about this:

A man who sees white supremacists using Tolkien to justify their absurd tenets agrees with them and attacks Tolkien from the other side.

Many of us have responded in a wide variety of ways that the mistake was to agree with them.

In fact, their argument seems to be that orcs, because they are physically ugly, must be the races who they, in their prejudice, consider ugly.

Our argument is that orcs are trying to exterminate all other races, and therefore the orcs represent people like them who have been twisted into hateful beings, and that their ugliness is a literary device.

They seem to think that the Fellowship represents them, but it can't possibly represent them because it is four different races or species working together and learning to put aside their differences.

Only someone who is utterly daft will look at a fellowship made up of all those different kinds of people and see in it a justification for the supremacy of one race.

And to agree with them, even for the purpose of arguing against them, is equally daft.
