Scatha the Worm

In the appendix of the ROTK, it states that Scatha was "the great dragon of Ered Mithrin," slain by Fram son of Frumgar, cheiftain of the Eotheod, the Rohirrim ere they moved south to Rohan.

Also in ROTK, Merry recieves a horn from Eowyn which was taken from the hoard of Scatha, but otherwise to my knowledge the long-worm is no longer mentioned.

Please, does anyone know more about Scatha the Worm?

Go to the Encyclopedia of Arda and look up Scatha. I think it has some good info on him.

I just now realized that I had always misread that passage (and I've read LOTR 8 or 9 times now!) and thought it referred to Wormtongue, who also had a hoard of stolen things. Funny how I misread that so many times...
