Hobbits were part of the race of Men. The first Hobbits, or their ancestors, would have awakened with other Men in Hildorien. They only settled in the Vales of Anduin sometime in the Third Age, probably early in the Third Age. They would have had to migrate from the east prior to that time.

You should read the Silmarillion. It's grand fun.

I think it should be mentioned, Sicirus, that the origin of Hobbits is not covered at all in The Silmarillion. They are only mentioned in the last chapter, Of the Rings of Power and the Third Age.

You can find info about the hobbits somewhere in the LotR. Either in the prefix or the appendicies. I don't remember.
Good question though!

If the hobbits sttled in the Anduin, and it's probably right, how did they got to the Branduin inthe end of the Third Age? did they passed upon the mountains?

The answer to these questions, RTB, are in the Prologue to the Lord of the Rings.

The Fallohides crossed the mountains north of Rivendell for example; but generally to Hobbit migration:

Quote:
"Why they later undertook the hard and perilous crossing of the mountains into Eriador is no longer certain. Their own accounts speak of the multiplying of Men in the land, and of a shadow that fell on the forest, ..." FotR Prologue
A more detailed migration account can be gleaned from, for two examples, the FotR Prologue (as advised) and "The Tale of Years" Appendix B RotK for dating and such.
