Parents went to Zambia for the weekend.
This is the edge of their hotel, on the Zambezi, a few hundred meters from Vic Falls. Dunno who that dude in the pic is though, so don't ask. |

I hope we will be well received in Europe, despite the Europeans' dislike of Americans (or so it seems). I plan to bring some phrase books and i have a small translator that may help me also. I do not expect anyone to speak English... so, I'm trying to learn all the languages I need to (Spanish, Italian, French... and not sure about what they speak in the Netherlands, yet). I just hope Bush hasn't completely turned the world against the American citizens. :-/ |

Almost everyone in Holland speaks English, which is just as well coz Dutch is like Dwarvish: a real jaw-cracker. Paris has changed a lot recently, in that they seem to have stopped pretending not to understand any English at all. However, it's well worth making the effort to learn a few phrases. Sounds like a fantastic trip; hope you have a great time. |

Not exactly a holiday but took the kids to my parents for a break over the weekend. They have a huge garden with woodland etc so the kids love the place. On the Sunday we went to a medieval warfare demonstration at Bolsover Castle. Was good fun, though it did take some imagination to picture the Battle of Crecy re-enacted by 6 combatants!

I like hoplidays, but I don't like being away from friends and having to make email notices on many forums sites....
On that note, sun-star and I will be away for one week. Try to hold back your tears.
