Relax a little
School is killing me. I am exhausted, worn-out, whacked, almost burnt out and I have too much strain on myself.
But I think I now why! It is because I am not good at relaxing. Can someone tell me the best way to get relaxed? And by that I mean the REALLY really best way, not just any"calm down and read a book" thing.

Exercise. Like banging your head off a brick wall, it's great when you stop. And the endorphins give you a natural high.

Yeah, listening to relaxing music really helps. This might sound a little vauge but doing anything creative or active that you like to get your mind of things, drawing, etc. Er...except for some people its the total opposite and to relax they lay there and meditate...so yeah.

Inderjit has a point, you have to admit...
Get out of Dodge, find some excuse to go somewhere for a day or two, doesn't matter where. It brings back your perspective.

well... (i read this in an e-mail today)
these aren't really ways to relax, but they certan;y are good for a laugh! if you manage to get a day off, go to the zoo! and enjoy yourself, then on your way out run into the parking lot screamin 'HELP There loose! They got out! Run for your lives!!' or you could tape fly net around your desk at school/ desk at work whatever, and play jungle music all day long. page yourself on the intercom, but don't disguise your voice ask people what gender theyare, and laugh really hard when they answere at the drive thru say 'I want this take out! and no mistakes like last time please' Put decaf in the coffee maker for three weeks. Once everyone has gotten over his or her caffeine addiction, switch to espresso. In the memo field of all your checks, write "FOR SEXUAL FAVORS." Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their after-work outing because you're not in the mood.

im in there with coney.. but seeing as im FEMALE i do have a few other suggestions. go tanning. get a massage take a day to yourself (beware, this can get addicting) sit in a hot bath or hot tub with LotR, the Sil, etc etc you get the point. or if your more of a non lazy type, go for a LEISURELY run. set no goals, no times, and no limits. even make it a walk. make sure your in a wooded area (no pun referring to the beggining of this post )

Yes, 8 hours of sleep a night helps. Also, this is my favorite thing to do and I would do it 24 hours a day if I could (and that is only a slight exaggeration): I lie in the grass on my back in a comfortable position and look up through the trees at the sky. I listen to the sounds of the birds. I feel the warmth of the sun and the coolness of the breeze (or just enjoy whatever the weather happens to be). I do this for a very long time and it is very relaxing. At night I call it moonbathing. I suppose you could call it meditating, but not in the "new age" sense of the word, because I do think about many things, or sometimes nothing at all. Try this and see if it helps. If it's too cold for you outside, take a bath by candlelight and just lay there looking at a flame or close your eyes (but don't fall asleep!!). These are my suggestions. And any time you can do either of these things at the beach it is twice as relaxing!

Ugh 8 hours of sleep a night, not gonna happen. I have to write a 20 page autobiography about me. (Redundant?) My Life is SO not that exciting. Oh well.
And for the relaxing thing, I like to take naps when I find the time, not to mention some great music. But the thing that really helps me is just to sit down and write. Just let it all out on paper! Or type... thats easier sometimes !

I do relaxation techniques at my drama classes because actors need to be relaxed and ready to perform without being nervous. I would suggest first that you do some warm ups. One of the funner ones is pretending you're a noodle in a boiling water. Relax completely and then twich your hand...continue twitching your hadn and work your way to your legs, arms head and torso.
It feels wonderful. Then sit or stand and take deep breaths in trhough your mouth out through your nose and relax...keep it up and empty your mind...then mentally go to your favorite place. Very nice...nearly puts you to sleep but it's wonderful. If you live in the country go for walks and talk to yourself as Frodo or Sam or whoever. Name whatever places you find after places in favorite books or just come up with the names. My favorite place is Ithilien...lovely little valley with a stream and flowers. If you live in the city go for a drive. Go to the library where you can sit in a corner unnoticed with a book until the library closes. Go to a place where they have paint ball and/or laser tag and just have a go and kick some butt. Have a day out where you go to this junk food place and then go all over to arcades and stuff. Just some strange ideas, Cheers, Sam

I like to do yoga and occasionally kickboxing. But that might be just me.

Thanks to all of you for your suggestions!
I have realised that when I spend some time here at Entmoot's, I feel kind of relaxed
