Deep Impact?....
Has anyone seen this movie? I won't watch it if it ends sadly, but I can't watch it to find out! Does anyone know?

Is it one of the 'comet/asteroid thing will hit the world unless this team of people sacrifices themselves etc.' ? I've never watched a movie with that dark of a theme( dark compared to my usual ).
How is it a good movie if a whole ton of people die? (I understand how it could be a good movie if you enjoy making ones self all teary -eyed......maybe I should try it.....)

Yes it is about an asteroid/Comet hitting earth and it's kinda simaliar to Armageddon and people aren't sent to sacrifice themselves, it's the same blow up the asteroid before it hit's earth bit, but it's really very good.
It's happy even though a lot of people die because it shows the strength of human spirit and that no matter how hard it get's we will always keep foghting and surving. It made me teary eyed, but my brother didn't cry when we saw it so it dcould be a girl thing. You should definatley watch it though!

Not a problem, I hope you enjoy it!
Now if I told you who lived and died it would ruin the movie, but since I always ruin the end of movies I'll say that you can rest assured that Elijah lives!

oh it's a great film! and so sad!
I think its way better than Armageddon though (and thats NOT just because of Elijah...) The actors are all brilliant, the script's great and it really makes you sit up and think about what you would do if you were told the world was going to end tomorrow. I wonder what i would do.....

It's too bad they have that Reporter chic in there. It's um rather destracting. I personally like the way the presedint associates with faith and noahs ark and stuff and that Leo(Lijahs character)doesn't die and that he lands up happily. But other then that it was one of those movies that doesn't like thrill me or move me. It was ok. Good Elijah Wood movie to watch once.

I've seen it a couple of times. It's actually pretty good. The scene that gets me every time is when Elijah's character gets on the bus and Leelee's character has to stay behind. It's just really sad. *sniffs*

I'm watching it today, so hopefully I can get into this conversation a little more later.

Whoa.
I just watched it night before last, and I was more emotionally moved by that movie than any other, except LotR. I ALMOST got myself to tears when Sarah stays and Leo leaves on the bus. I was tense through the entire movie(just me. I was like that through LotR too). A good movie, but not if it is 11:30pm when it ends( I was VERY tired) , and you are replaying all the most disturbing scenes in your head. The most moving parts for me were when Sarah stays behind, when her parents force her to take her baby brother and leave them, and when everyone is saying all their last goodbyes at the end. I'm not used to stuff like this....... I just get 3/4 into whatever movie I'm watching(cartoons don't count ). Life goes on.........* breaks into maniacal laughter*

I saw it again a few nights ago. It was OK, better than Armageddon. Elijah looks like his about 14. But I don't understand why Sarah would stay with her parents, instead of getting on the bus. I mean death and parents or life and Elijah? Tough choice And then when Lij goes back to rescue Sarah. Why didn't his father just tie him up and make him stay in safety? I guess I'm not much of a romantic.
