WarCraft 3 LoTR Scenarios

For those of you who dont know WarCraft 3 is a fairly new computer game that comes with a map editor, and some people with quite a bit of time on there hands have created a few different LoTR scenarios, personally i think they are quite fun, but still way to short taking only a few hours to complete, anyone ever tried these besides me?

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

No, I haven't tried any custom maps, actually... do you know where I can get these ones?

Is WarCraft 3 good then? Wondering if it's worth my while getting WC3 instead of Attack of the Clones DVD.

What kind of scenarios could be done? Battle of Helms Deep would be fun if possible.

Get both.

War3 is great (though I'm not particularly good at it)... but AOTC DVD comes first

It's difficult to do huge battle scenarios with War3, because the unit limit is way lower than the previous games... it's a game more focused on managing individual units rather than mass armies.

thats not entirely true parrot, there is alot of no food limit maps out now though, i definetely suggest the game if you have a high-speed connection, if not lag will be a big problem for you. its hard to decide between the dvd and the game since there is a big price difference but i dont know

I finally got my hands on one of the "Middle Earth" 12-player maps yesterday. Wow, those were well-designed. The handling of the geography was superb, even though it was tweaked around with a bit to facilitate balanced gameplay.

My brother played them. I don't like WC3. I observed him play once. I wonder, in those LOTR scenarios, are the characters balanced? Or are they not meant to be balanced?
I thought it was a creative idea.

In some of them, the characters aren't balanced at all. For example, lately I've been trying out some of the Balin's Tomb / escape from Moria maps, where everybody just stocks up on tomes and pumps their stats into the thousands. It gets kind of old after a while, because there's no challenge.

There are also some good offence-defence maps modeled after Helm's Deep, and they are very nicely designed.
