Wireless Technology
What are your thoughts on Wireless technology and the Advancements in technology. I got a new computer for christmas and my father brought home a wireless mouse and Keyboard for me. Cellphones, keyboard, mouse, etc... Anything you can think of.
The keyboard and mouse require a USB connection. (Comes in most new computers) You hook up the transmitter in the USB and then press buttons on the devices then they work! The one I have (May be the only type) is from Logiteck.

The wireless gaming controller for the Nintendo Gamecube, aka Wavebird, is one of the greatest things ever created. No longer am I bound by wires when I play video games. It works flawlessly, and I can play anywhere in the room without worrying about not having enough wire. And now my dog doesn't run through the wire and knock down my Gamecube. The Wavebird is worth every penny...and it's only $5 more than a normal first party Gamecube controller. Yay wireless!

I have a gamecube and have heard differing reviews on that. I might have to get one though. My cat always knocks them out or I sit back an the controller pulls out of the ____(I don't know what it's called)

I've got a wireless mouse........which is handy......why is it that mouse cables always try to impersonate a sleeping snake?
I never saw the point in a wireless keyboard tho'..........it's not as if the keyboard ever moves anywhere |

If you are having a conference you can spin the monitor around to face the conference table and bring the keyboard over.

Good show recently on Tech Tv; such technology is open to anyone with a scanner within a couple hundred yards of your set. So a creepy neighbor, etc. can be "watching" all you do.
Somthing to think about.

There are, unless I missed anything else, currently 2 types of wireless technology used in computer mice:
1. Infrared (IR) 2. Radio frequency Both employ a transciever that can be hooked to your pc either through a Com port, a PS/2 mouse port, or a USB port. The other transciever is in the mouse itself (of course) and is usually powered by AAA batteries (unless they've discovered some other way like dilithium crystals ) Radio frequency is the "in" thing since it doesn't require a "line-of-sight" between the mouse and the wired transciever. One can, thus tuck the transciever into behind the monitor and even work even a short distance away from the PC without worrying if someone might block the signal between your mouse and the transciever. I think they're trying to work on better power saving technology so you won't have to change batteries as often. I've heard Logitech's had some success with this when they introduced the wireless optical mouse (which consumes power for both the wireless tech as well as for the optical system).
