Voice of Galadriel

Who else thinks Galadriel/Cate Blanchett did a stunning voice job in the prologue?

The emotion, tone and breath control, and depth she uses is unbelievable! It made the Prologue my favorite part of the movie! My favorite thing she says is, (men) "above all else desire power." and then her voice gets deep and disgusted when she says, "power."

I'd like to hear your favorite parts of the Prologue or your thoughts on Galadriel's voice throughout the entire movie.

Namarie, Maren

I agree, Maren. Cate was fantastic. You know from her first words...

Also agree. Cate rules (well, maybe a sort of power sharing with Christopher Lee )

The most powerful tragic element of the story is the Elves' fading from ME. You can just tell that Cate's Galadriel will be able to hold that theme together across the three films.

I thought her voice was great, very deep, which I think was how it was described in the books.

I think she did a very good job with the voice - pity I didn't like the intro.

Tell me: does she normally have a deep voice?

Having the film begin with her voice over, well, nothing, was a great way to kick off the story. Notice how the very first shot in the film is the forging of the Ring... Blanchett's voice (and her lines) led up to it very well. A great choice for the "storyteller" behind the whole thing.

i agree that the voice of CB was excellent... i especially liked the
"much that once was is lost, for none now live who remember it"
the intro was needed to give the heathen non-tolkien readers who watched the movie a bit of info needed for them to understand the basics ... but i really enjoyed it ... especially the forgings and the ringbearers with there preciouses.
CB was good narrating but i didnt like her as Galadriel as i have said before she just didnt look the part of an elf who didnt age... just looked to old

It was an excellent way to start the movie. I adored the 'legend became myth' part. I recognized those lines from the screensaver I had downloaded earlier. They pulled it off quite nicely.

I thought the intro was well done one of the better parts of the movie.

Old?!?!? I think she looks noble and majestic. Besides, she's been around practically since the awakening of the Elves in the first place, I think she's entitled to look around 35 or so!

The best part that Cate Blanchett had was when Frodo had offered her the ring...

"And instead of a dark lord you shall have a queen! Not dark but beautiful and as terrible as the dawn!... Stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall love me and despair!"

A very powerful scene and I commend the writers of the movie for pretty much using exactly what she said in the book for the dialogue in the movie.

Yeah, but they had to put really bad special effects at that point, so people who havn't read the book couldn't understand what she was saying.

That's what the subtitles are for on the DVD. Also comes in handy when trying to decipher what the ring is saying...

I thought Cate did a great job as Galadriel, and yes, I especially loved her voice in the prologue!

she did look to old i think it was the same for elrond i just think that she didnt look the part of an elf with there ageless beauty.
maybe it is just my perceptions from the book but Arwen and Legolas were what i thought the elves should loo like regardless of weather they have been around since the first age.
this should be in another thread since it isnt really about the topic sorry
