i appreciate the little things as well...

treebeards toes grabbing and gripping as he walks.
the tapestrys in the golden hall.
the subtle voice pitches of ian mckellan.

no cast emember or director mentions these things, but having them there means alot to me.
any other little tiny details that you people have noticed?

The bugs running away from the Nazgul in FotR when the Hobbits encounter it for the first time.

Figwit at the Council of Elrond.

singing about middle earth and etc (gandalf, treebeard, aragorn, eowyn) it added more depth and seemed to give middle earth some history.

The flag of Rohan, the white horse on a green bg, taken by the wind when Gandalf and the three hunters arrives at Edoras. An illustration of the state of the kingdom.

The conversation betwen Aragorn and Legolas in Helm's Deep and the way they switch between Westron (..er, English) and Elvish. It seemed very natural compared to most portrayals of bilingualism in movies.

The three little dots over all the letter "A" s on maps and signs - the three little dots stand for "A" in Tengwar, the elvish script Tolkien developed (see my avatar - the triple dots are over the last character on the first line). Also, the lettering style copies Tolkien's Tengwar script, altho the letters aren't the same (they will write a capital "T" like Tolkien's Tengwar "L", because it looks kind of like a "T").

I noticed Treebeard's "grippy" toes, too, and appreciated that touch!

Also, the detail at Edoras was really incredible. I never even noticed that the floors were inlay (?) work until I saw the appendicies.

Any reference to Valinor.

Aragorn singing the tale of Beren and Luthien at Weathertop.

Arwen riding Glorfindel's horse. (At least they got him into the movie)

That's true, the character of Asfaloth (sp?) remained the same!

That was nice. I liked that flag, I wouldn't mind hanging it in my room somewhere. Pretty, pretty.

And now that we're talking pretty here, I want the clothes Éowyn was wearing when she had a little swordfight with Aragorn. Pretty, pretty.

Any scene in which the characters speak the exact wording from the books. A direct quote.
ex. Eowyn fears a cage scene, I know that is supposed to be in ROTK but at least it was in the movies.

Yeah, most of those scenes are great. I wish Jackson had used more direct quotes from the books, because I find many of the "home-made" lines bad/cheesy (to mention one: "if you want him, come and claim him").

Hmm, small things I notice...it's too long since i last saw any of the movies (almost a year), so I can't remember any right now. Going to watch TT: EE today, however, so that may change.

When Eomer and his riders make a perfect ring around Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli.

good answers.
i thought that with all these rumors and spoilers going around before the 17th, that we all needed to step back and think about the things we liked.

see, im not all that negative.

i also like the shots of the mass amounts of trees covering mountains in TTT to portray fangorn.. very v.v. beautiful.

How every single weapon, prop, costume, even kitchenware was handmade so as to be unique and never seen before by the audience. They exist only in Middle Earth.
