Survivor

I personally love this show, and last nights start wasn't bad. I think that Survivor can succeed again as it did over the summer.

The bugs in the figs? Ugh.

This was by far the best part of Super Bowl Sunday (even better than the comercials, kinda).

Re: Survivor

Last year I only watched the last few minutes to see who got kicked off, but I actually watched the entire show yesterday. It was ok, kind of on the stupid side. It's gotten very predictable.

*Spoiler if you haven't seen the show yet, but once it's out it's probably common knowledge*

The whole last half hour they said "Oh, Jeff is so sick, he's vomiting, he wants to leave, we should vote him off." They tried to make it seem like Jeff would be voted off, but that made it very obvious that he wouldn't. Thus it was no great surprise when Debb got voted off.

I couldn't sit through last year's pilot either, and the later episodes were better as the characters were whittled down and became more familiar. I'll probably tune in again and give the show a chance, even though the only exciting part is the end (even if it's been made obvious).

Re: Survivor

Wow, Debb was voted off!
Too bad... would have added some spice...

My tape didn't include the last 15 minutes or so, since it was set from 10 to 11 (usually for taping The Practice).

I only watched the rerun of last years Survivor... could be quite nice at times... at times...

But now Debb is off... darn!
She was interestingly annoying to the others!
Well, there are more like her still on the island... oops! in the Outback.

Re: Survivor

Everyone does. But I go through this every year with MTV's Road Rules (one of my fav shows) cuz like survivor, they always get a new cast every year. (So does Real World, but I hate that show).

Eventually, once there are less people (as Ben mentioned), we'll get closer to them and begin to like them more and more, and begin to hate them more and more. This is normal.

Didn't watch it.

Were I so inclined to become interested in "Reality TV", I'd give up the "TV" part and start going around on the street and asking people to talk about themselves (you'd be amazed how many people [like me] simply love the opportunity to talk about themselves). And if I really wanted a TV-esque situation, I'd pull a Peter (Family Guy) and bolt a TV façade off of my chest.

.

Hmmm... Reality TV?
They may call it that.

But it's mostly a game.
And people may watch it as they watch baseball, football, etc...

Entertainment... and as these tv sports, it gives people something else to talk about at work or school...

A game.

Re: .

I watched neither the Superbowl nor Survivor.

The Mrs and I, instead, watched BLAZING SADDLES! (Which she had never seen)

Survivor III: Siberia

Seriously. We've had a tropical survivor (Pacific Islands). We've had a dessert survivor (Australia). Now its time for a cold and snowy survivor!!!!

Re: .

Now there's an idea. It would take a heck of a lot of trouble to do, though. I mean, If you dump people on a tropical island, no prob. They can fish for food, the island will have a fresh water supply, and who needs clothes when you have a banana leaf available? In the desert, there are stiil animals to hunt, though you might have concerns about finding a supply of fresh water. And you do need clothes because of no shade/sunburn and deserts get *cold* at night usually. But wouldn't a survivor show in Siberia be a pain to pull off? You have to do some serious provisioning in ways the show backers/producers didn't before. Unless you do the show during the Siberian summer. And then what's the *point*?

Re: .

There was an article in the paper last week about the possibility of doing a Survivor in Canada. I believe the basic consensus was that it wouldn't happen. A cold location requires people to cover up, so they wouldn't have an excuse to show buff bods. Anyone notice how many buff bods are on this latest edition? I commented to my husband that looks (in most cases) seemed to be a big determining factor as to who got on the show.

Re: Mars

Cast iron, wrought in one of those railings that takes everything and lasts forever. And looks good while it's holding you up. That's what Southern belles are made of.
