Basic Computer Games
I was just wondering what basic game people play the most when their on the computer. When I say basic game I mean like Solitaire, Freecell, Minesweeper, Spider Solitaire, Tetris, Hearts, etc. So send in what basic game you are addicted to, why you like it, and your high score (if the game has one).
I personally like Minesweeper because it is all about probability and quickly thinking about the numbers. In case you can't tell, I like math. For all you miners out there my high scores are Beginner: 6 seconds Intermediate: 50 seconds and Expert: 172 seconds. Beat that!!!

I don't have time for these...when I'm online or on the computer I'm on the moot or...emailing people (guess who).
I do play Internet Spades (no surprise there).

When I'm really bored, I play Hearts. The problem with Hearts on the computer is that it's hard to think, as the computer plays so fast, I tend to play fast as well. |

I used to play these games a lot a few years ago but like Mercutio, I just don't have time anymore.
I beat Minesweeper's beginner's level in 6 seconds too. I was so proud of myself. I've starting to play minesweeper on MSN and maybe I'll get addicted to the game once more...

Well first I learned how to play from Chris and then I started playing online once in a great while. So I actually got most practice with real people.

The numbers form a box around each mine. Start with a custom game with like 200 squares and 20 mines. Example of pattern (M=Mine)
1 2 2 3 M 1 2 2 2 And an example of a pattern that might stump you at first: 1 2 2 2 M 1 3 5 1 2 3 M 4 M 2 2 M 2 3 1 1 2 1 .

The numbers indicate how many mines are in proximity of that box. If there's a "1", that means that there's only one mine adjacent to it.

I love Minesweeper but I can't play it as well now that I don't have a proper mouse
Spider Solitaire is really addictive though...

Hey Mercution! I couldn't find the card game thread (I think it died), so I wanted to ask you something about Spades...
How do you (or anyone who plays) score bags? It seems the standard is to count to ten (or fewer) and then penalise. It just seems odd to me that people add overtricks as 1pt to their score since the score needed to win is always a multiple of ten. I mean, if you're counting the points surely you should be able to benefit from it. Does anyone allow say 20 bags before penalising so that you could increase your score by overtricks? (Sorry that this is really unclear... I'll explain further if needbe)

On the topic of basic computer games: is there a command in qbasic which makes an input take place immediately... ie. so you don't have to wait and press enter?
