Do you listen to Ska?

Yeah. Ska! Ska Ska Ska! It originated in Jamaica as dance music, which influenced Reggae in the long run. The style is basically swing/punk with horns. Very cool stuff. Bands include:

Blue Meanies
Mustard Plug
Insyderz
Five Iron Frenzy
Supertones

The first two I have never listened to, but the others rock. I've seen both FiF and the Supertones in concert also. YaY!

The only ska band I know of is Reel Big Fish. They're pretty good, but I like rock more. Especially soft rock, cuz I'm a softie...

Ska is not really new.

Does anyone remember the band "Madness" and their hit "One step beyond"?

I like ska. Reel Big Fish is really cool. Aren't the Supertones a Christian band? And maybe FIF too? (Actually that's just a guess since I saw Eliot wearing one of their shirts! Kinda biased...) I saw the Supertones at Festival Con Dios a couple years ago. It was fun! I don't really remember any of their songs though...

Sure! The "Two Tone" label. The Specials were hot at that time also. I remember seeing them at some club in the suburbs of Chicago. I was dancing on the disco dancefloor (this was in the late seventies, when disco was still a national phenomenon) with some little black stilletto heeled ankle boots on. My heels kept puncturing the dance floor, and messed with my style! I think it was made of aluminum or something. Just a dumb story. I probably have some other 70's ska in the album collection.

*feels very old since someone asked "does anyone remember Madness?"*

The Specials were excellent. Also The Beat were big here in the early 80s.

Is there finally a long-overdue ska revival going on out there in young-person-land?

Ska is still breathing with the youngins. Just look to NOFX among other "young" punk/ska bands. Love their version of Hotel California. Course a lot of the under 18 crowd dont actually realize its called ska so... its just what they play.
