Minority Report
Go see this movie, it's friggin awsome.
It's Spielberg's best work since, well, A.I. (but for the many whom didn't like A.I., I guess it's his best since Jurassic Park). Tom Cruise is great, as are the action scenes. Go see it! |

Not sure. Wasn't the Dick story this was based on of the same title?
As for the film itself, it is indeed highly recommended. Don't expect an action movie, though - it's a more cerebral sort of thriller where the visuals are only a background enhancement to the meaty story. Full review eventually, but I have about seven or eight other ones to catch up on first...

There was a lot of commotion with women cheering and stuff when John asked that women "well who has more abilities?"
and she replied "the female of course" that was amusing.

Oh my god 8 friggin trailers!!! AAAAAAAHHH! Swimfan, lol worst title ever!
Anywho, I liked the movie a lot. It was obviously flawed, but it was very ambitious. What bothered me the most was the cliche of mentioning the drowning, that's been done way too many times, it's an easy op out. I also thought the very end wasn't sold so well, the reason pre-crime closed down. I believe it was because of realization of what the pre-cogs are, actual humans, but this wasn't sold too well. Cruise's naration during that part hurt the movie IMO. Loved the sound and visual design, especially the ads. That Gap sequence had me in stitches! |

NZ just got it today. Very good movie, however, I probably would have cast someone else instead of Cruise. And the ending wasn't explained very clearly in terms of the pre-cogs being recognised as humans, and not as tools to use in solving crime. Makes me want to track down the short story though. I imagine that P K Dick's version would have been a little grittier, and more mind boggling...

I want to see it, but we're gonna see Lilo & Stitch tomorrow night so I'll have to wait. Unless I can get some friends together or something...hmm...

I gotta agree with BoP there. The scene at the pool, when he was connecting with his son, was the only one in which Cruise really shined. I guess his life's been just too blest to be playing a drug addict cop with nothing to lose except his life.

Thank you all for throwing in spoilers... I wanna go see it. Really badly. The plot (from what I hear) looks awesome. Are the moral ethics and such discussed at all?

I saw this movie last night and I recommend it as well. It reminded me somewhat of the Matrix ( though not nearly as complex ).

I have to agree there. "Matrix" is somewhat over-rated, with a REALLY bad script. Don't get me wrong, it had a good concept, but maaan they should have fired the scriptwriter!
Minority Report on the other hand - well, it was definately more complex. There were a few hiccups, but overall, I'd have to say it was a better movie than Matrix.

I'll clarify a bit. I agree with you about the scripts. I thought the concept behind the Matrix was more complex. It took me a while to get my mind around the idea of a software world. I'm always fascinated about how we distinguish reality, how we 'buy in' to our surroundings. The boundaries can be blurred between reality
and imagination, between memories and dreams. That's the part that caught my attention, I had never thought of it in the context of software generation.

I can't wait to see this! (I skipped all the posts that even slightly seemed to give away info.) I love Spielberg's work, and my parents are forcing me to wait longer before I see it. Ugh, just a few more days . . .

SPOILER ALEART
I saw it here in thailand yesterday morning. It was ok. It was difficult for me to watch because Agatha reminded me of someone... The scences that had suspense for me was when you found out he had put the doctor away few years back. I that he was gonna be screwed. And finding out there was no minority report. I felt it being max von sydow to have been an easy pick. ( how old is that guy 3000 ?) I love him as an actor but damn he's been around since greco-roman theater. the rocket belt fight was cool. Tom is too "perfect" to be a passable drug addict. I didn't find it to be deep. I doubt I'll watch it again. over all it was a typical summer movie. PS ( i find it hard to believe that people found that pseudo hindu techno phliosophy "difficult" PPS i tend to be a tough critic. I guess its being billed as a "cerebral" movie but if that is cerebral, america gotta be the dumbest country in creation Its NOT a dumb movie and I thought that the actress who palyedn agatha was "brilliant". but I think it hardly was 'awesome" it was entertaining. I'm NOTsorry i spent my $2 to see it. But once was enough.
