Middle Earth Camping trip

If you were to take a weekend camping trip in ME, where would you go? Who would you take with you? What kind of provisions would you bring? Why?

I would like to go to three places:

The shire, I would take my kids. Nice place, very relaxing. I would make sure I had enough pipe weed.

Hollin. I would take along a couple of dwarves. I like it because its beautiful, and very sparsely inhabited. Dwarves are good at backpacking, and that trip would probably mean a lot of walking over rough terrain.

I think that I would like to camp in Lothlorien. Or maybe near the Falls of Rauros. Or the Shire. Seems nice and quiet, like my hometown.

Moria. Nothing like a good old scary, dusty place, to sit around a campfire and tell scary stories.

California's not too bad, but I would love to see the Republic of Ireland. I always enjoy visiting Oregon and the Olympic Forest up in Washington as well.

I also would love to see Ireland. I agree, the Olympic mountains are great for backpacking, though rather rainy. Better yet is the Olympic coast, it's very beautiful there. I've never been to California, I'm afraid, and I've only been camping around Washington and Oregon, but I'm always open to new places!

I'd like to go there too; but during the time before Balin's people died. I'd like to see first hand how they built those halls and bridges.

I also wouldn't mind some maltbeerrrr and meat off the booone.

Yeah, Moria would be cool, and I would agree, while Balin's people were there. Don't want to run in to many orcs, though I'd probably want to hang out in really remote areas. Away from the balrog, though I want to see it's wings!

Hmm, well, I'd take my best friend and Tolkein lover Katie (who just joined here as HobbitChick88 ). I'd like to go to Lothlorien to actually camp, it'd be so beautiful under the stars! Then I'd go to the shire and hang out with all the pretty little hobbits. Then it's off to Fangorn to meet the ents, and after that Rivendell. Why? BECAUSE I WANT TO!!

I would go to the Shire and probably stay there! I love it, so peaceful and natural. I might venture about as far as weathertop but that would be it. I love the Shire...

But then again my location thing under my names says that i like Lorien...hmmmm I woupd visit Lorien and then go to the Shire. That is a good plan
(Goes to get backpack and camping supplies)

At the moment I'm camping in Mirkwood with my good friends Legolas and Aragorn... nice place for telling spooky stories as well, as long as you mind the bugs.

But I'd prefer to be in Lothlorien beside the river, looking up at the stars... I'd bring my friends and lots of lembas & miruvor...

Let's see a few days in Mirkwood while sleeping next to a fire rolled up in a blanket while talking in small hushed voices to whoever wants to come with me. Then I'd want to make my way to Erebor and camp out on the edge of that little hidden door that Smaug buried. THEN I'd want to head over to the Shire and kind of loll about, visiting Tookland, Staying in Brandyhall, checking out the Green Dragon and then making a nice stay for a day or two at Bagend. THEN I'd head over through the Old Forest, The Barrowdowns and finally stroll on over to The Prancing Pony, stay THERE for a day. Then check out Weathertop, of course sleeping with my sword drawn, then stay out of doors in Rivendell. Then a day or so in Moria with whoever lives there, then through Lorien, finally over the Emyn Muil, stayin' at Ithellien for a bit, then kind of try to find a small QUIET out of the way place in Mordor, then over the Gladden Fields to Gondor. Stay THERE for like a year then make my way to Fangorn and Rohan camp there, then finally wearily making my way to The Shire and over to the Grey Havens. THAT would be the ULTIMATE Camping trip. Visiting ALL of Middle Earth. THAT would be cool.
Sam
