Pokemon
So, does anybody still play the games? Or watch the crappy anime?

Blearg, no.
I remember them being all the rage when I was in grade school though. Is that show still going? I'dve thought that Ash had caught his ...365?...pokeman by now? |

Yep, still going. And it's 490 Pokemon now. And he's caught less then 100.

Hehe, I used to watch it when it first came to the Netherlands. That's quite a while ago though. 6 years or so?

Since this is (was?) a TV show and a game, I think this thread belongs in the Entertainment forum.
I used to watch this show sometimes. The art is a little simplistic but I like the characters. My favourite aspect of the show is how Ash lets Pikachu just be himself. I always thought the message of acceptance was nice to see on TV.

I remember watching it a while, just because I always loved watching cartoons and was at the moment rather starved for some decently drawn ones, which tells you how poor the offering was. It gets old fast, though. And the whole catching animals to have them fight one another never quite sat easily with me. Dunno if I was reading too much into it...

I love pokemon! I haven't had time to watch it in ages, but it's fun to watch while you're doing homework or something... I mean I wouldn't sit down to watch it just for the experience of watching it, but I always find the episodes amusing and it's fun/relaxing to watch for a minute or two if you get frustrated with what you're doing .
Plus I love Pikachu . |

Dude, I still remember my very first pokemon card. It was a very special moment. I was in elementary school, and my older brother and sister (four and six years older), had pokemon cards. I badly wanted one, cause everyone did. I guess I annoyed my brother so much into giving me one of his ponita (is that how you spell it? I cant remember. The white horse with the firey tail) card. I was so happy.

Then of course you get into the philosophical debate: must one REALLY "catch 'em all" to be a successful pokemaster? When do you know that you have caught all of them, and what do you do with said pokemon once each and every one has been caught?
Also how do you define the success of a pokemaster? Is it to actually become a "master" of pokemon, in which case you'll succeed so long as you've caught at least one. Or is there a quality over quantity standard? Is winning every battle with a few pokemon superior to winning a few battles with many pokemon? Oh, pokemon, you inspire such deep thought... Personally, I'd just catch a pikachu and an eeve and tell the other pokemon they can go take a hike ^_^. For reelz--cutest pokemon EVER. I wouldn't even battle with 'em, I'd just keep them as pets and lurv them into little tiny bits and pieces. Last edited by Tessar : 10-27-2008 at 04:51 PM. |

Being a Pokemon master is all about heart, not about whether you've caught 'em all. That's just for marketing! I would battle my sweet little Pokemons though. I think that as long as you take good care of them, they enjoy battling. Like humans like struggling to win at sports and academics and so on. And then at the end of the day I would love and cuddle them to pieces. I think I would specialize in cute, snuggly types. I have a thing for Raichuu, Jigglypuff, and Vulpix. However, my favorite favorite of them all is Mew. I suppose I wouldn't mind having just one, but it would be difficult to become a gym leader or something with only one. It puts you at a disadvantage. My dream, however, is beating the elite four with a single level 100 Clefairy.

Lots of cute ones
I would love to start a farm with all of them though. Or be a sister Joy. At least Pokemon never bleed or die I can be a nurse in that case!

Yes, but which sister Joy? O.o Or does it really matter? I suspect that Sister Joy is actually a single, transdimensional being that exists in all pokecenters, at all times, at once.

And you are probably right too
Or maybe an Agent Jenny. At least then I wouldn't have to walk around in a pink outfit. I would have to adapt the silly skirt though.

Dang, I think I still have a drawing somewhere of my own pokemon-design, an armoured cat of a sort. I wonder where that went...

I could do the Charmander voice... my sister did the voice of some other Pokemon rather well

I think that would kind of take away from the feeling of accomplishment. And anyway, doesn't using Missingno make for Pokemon that are less strong than naturally leveled ones? Still quite strong, of course. Not to say I've never used Missingno.
