i know, my post sux.
anyhow, 5.) frodo- completed the impossible task 4.) isildur-saved seeds from tree to preserve, cut ring from sauron's hand 3.) sauron-tricked ar-pharazon into invading valinor, forged the one ring. 2.) feanor-the greatest of the elves, crafted the silmarils, defied the valar, slammed the door in the face of the most powerful of all beings in arda. 1.) morgoth-the grandaddy of em all, put things in motion that impacted 3 ages, defied illuvatar, was sauron's master, the most powerful of all beings in arda, killed fingofin, i could go on but i will spare you nonbeleivers the punishment of truth.

Because, if it Earendil had not made his fateful voyage to Valinor, the list probably wouldn't include Sauron, because he would still be nothing more than Morgoth's right hand man. I'm not trying to under rate Sauron here, but as far as the mythology goes, Earendil's voyage just seems to be one of the most important events to have occured, ever. Also, I do think that the Valor would have eventually come to battle Morgoth without Earendil, but he just happened to be "the pebble that started the rock slide."

Earendil the mariner! You know it's quite possible that Earendil was the first 'ME' character JRR wrote about!

1. Eru (like who most people chose here)
2. Manwe 3. Varda 4. Orome 5. Yavanna Melkor and the Children of Eru were just there to give the rest of the Ainur something to do. Otherwise, they'd just keep bugging Eru for bedtime stories or a game of twister or risk. Eru don't like being bugged. He gave them some playdough and some Lego and a jerk of a big brother to keep 'em busy for ages.

Yaay! I can say Eru here!
1. Eru 2. Melkor 3. Isildur (without his bad mistake the ring would have been bye-bye) 4. Sauron 5. Frodo (Note- this is no particular order)
