Question Regarding "The Return of the King"
My friend and I are in an argument regarding The Return of the King. I want to know: Which finger did Frodo loose when Gollum took back the ring? The book says: "It was the right hand, and the third finger was missing." Does that mean the ring finger of the right hand? or the middle finger of the right hand? Thanks for your help.

hmmm...for some reason I like to think it's the middle finger...but of course Frodo was wearing the ring so it should be whichever finger he would slip the ring onto.

You see, I don't know which way you count fingers, and I don't know if the thumb is counted as a finger.

You're in luck! We have a whole thread here devoted to just that topic! It is located here, and although I don't know if the issue has been resolved yet, it'll give you some educated opinions. Since we already do have a thread, I'll be closing this one. Feel free to add your own opinion to the other one! And welcome to the 'moot!
