Celeborn
I am particularly dissatisfied with the actor impersonating Celeborn.
The way in which he spoke gave the impression that Celebrorn was slow witted. Did you have the same impression? Last edited by The Wizard from Milan : 01-31-2005 at 09:55 PM. Reason: I had a name mix-up |

I am pretty sure Celebrimbor was not in the movies WfM. He was the smith who forged the Rings of Power. Are you sure you aren't talking about Celeborn?

Ah...that makes more sense. I got more a impression of authority and power, not stupidity

He certainly seemed rather dimwitted to me.
Maybe they wanted him to come across as not being familiar with the language? I don't see why... Celebrimbor? It would have been neat if he made a cameo in the beginning.

Maybe we did see Celembrimbor in the movie, we just don't know about it: did not we see the arm of the elf that forged the three rings?

I seriously doubt that was Celebrimbor

I didn't like the way Celeborn was portrayed, and I know Chrys doesn't either. i hated the way he talked really slowly as if we were stupid and acted like he was always in a straiung contest!

I didn't like the portrayal of Celeborn. I think the attempt was for a slow-but-wise-as-if-ancient manner of speech, but it ended up coming out more as a slow-because-there-is-no-brain type. Cate Blanchett, on the other hand, I think did quite a good job as Galadriel (in general, that is- I disagree with some of the handling of her character but that's more a directoral issue).

yes because i am an elf i will talk in long sentences and i will not use punctuation because i want to send the viewers to sleep even though celeborn is supposed to be one of the wisest of the elves left at this time but oh well gimme a break and you know what makes it worse? we know that martin csokas is capable of sooo much more, he is a brilliant actor, i think maybe PJ tolde him to portray Celeborn as some sort of halfwitted boring nincompoop, cause i can't find any other explanation. And , relax, end rant mode |

I agree with the criticisms of the movie Celeborn expressed in this thread....but, everytime I see his name, I can't help thinking of when he is mentioned in UT as "Teleporno." I was sitting in the car back home, and my mom was driving, when I read that and burst into laughter. I had to explain the whole thing...it took a while...

he did sound dumb, but they gave a lot of his stuff to galadriel, which in this case is good!!

Celeborn did sound dumb in the book as well as in the movie. But as for his appearence he was OK MUCH BETTER than Erlond!
And Galadriel looked every bit a sly witch like Gimli said |

I agree, CrazySquirrel, about Galadriel; I always thought so too. And Celeborn, I think he was just heavily medicated and should have been in bed, but company came, so his wife made him get up and help her greet them to be polite .
